Colorectal in Lahore
Open colorectal surgery removes diseased sections of the colon or rectum through a single abdominal incision at our Lahore clinic at Farooq Hospital. The procedure covers operations such as colectomy, proctocolectomy, abdominoperineal resection and low anterior resection. Recovery is supported closely so bowel function returns and daily life resumes safely.

Open colorectal surgery is the removal of part or all of the colon or rectum through a single open incision in the abdomen. It covers procedures such as colectomy, proctocolectomy, abdominoperineal resection and low anterior resection, chosen by the location and extent of disease.
The surgeon opens the abdomen, frees the affected bowel and removes the diseased segment along with nearby lymph nodes when cancer is involved. The healthy ends are then rejoined, or a stoma is created when a direct join is not safe.
This approach suits patients with colorectal cancer, severe diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease or bowel obstruction. It is often chosen for larger tumours, dense scar tissue from earlier surgery, or emergencies where open access is safer.
Most patients stay in hospital for several days while bowel function returns and diet is slowly built back up. Full recovery at home usually takes a few weeks, with wound care and follow-up visits along the way.
Care begins with a consultation at Farooq Hospital, DHA, where Dr. Shehryar Niazi reviews your history, explains the options and answers your questions. Surgery and follow-up are handled by the same team, so you deal with familiar faces at every step.
